Based on Nobuko Yoshiya’s Flower Tales (Hana Monogatari), Fukujusō tells the tale of a female student in the throes of yearning for her sister-in-law, when her happy life is upended by the approaching recession and war. Silent film narrators Midori Sawato, Hideyuki Yamashiro, and Nanako Yamauchi will provide narration, accompanied with live music by pianist Mie Yanashita. We hope you enjoy these masterpieces from the silent film era at this special film screening.
