In recent years, contemporary Japanese theatre has shown various developments. With a particular focus on theatrical performances during the period between 1990s and the present time, this exhibition aims to explore, explain, and display the ‘expansion’ and ‘connection’ of contemporary Japanese theatre. Where did those artists in contemporary Japanese theatre come from? And what their future plans are? What problems and conflicts are shared within the field? Fliers, posters, props and other materials will be presented alongside related documents and performance footages. The exhibit will transport you from the Theatre Museum to the stage itself. The tip of the arrow points towards a theatre yet undiscovered.

(QR codes will be placed throughout the exhibition to provide guidance and commentary in English, Chinese, and Korean languages from 26th November.)
